Who is into computers? Okay, dumb question, we all seem to be. Maybe you enjoy surfing the Internet, or perhaps you need them for work or school. Whether it be a PC or a Mac, you more than likely have a computer that you use for your daily in a. The Apple G4 Ibook is a wonderful example of what computers can be. I bought my fourteen-inch notebook about a six months ago, and now I can't get along without it. The Apple G4 Ibook offers a standard 60 gigs, combo or super drive, and a compact size so you can bring at just about anywhere. This incredible machine has altered my view of computers.

Even though I come from a computer background, I wasn't familiar with the Apple G4 Ibook, or the Macs at all come to think of it. After a protracted talk with my uncle, a computer technician that used to be in love with with IBM, I came to the conclusion that I would get an Apple G4 Ibook. If this professional PC operator recommended a Mac to me, what else is there to say. He now also has an Ibook, and thinks it's better than his IBM notebook. On top of that, I was persuaded once again by a computer geek at my college, who had just made the switch from PC to Mac, and said he had no intention of going back. This is due in large part to Mac's simplicity.

While PCs have the standard right and left click option with their mouse, Apple G4 Ibooks have only one button. There is no right click. It you want to make a command, try open apple and a letter which refers to the command. It couldn't be easier. Open apple N will pull up a new search engine window if you're surfing the Internet and do not want to close your browser. Icons can be dragged to the folders and locations of your choosing. Once again, it couldn't be easier. You can hide your icons with the Apple G4 Ibook. Just scroll your mouse to the bottom of the screen and they'll magnify and appear for your convenience.

When you are ready to choose a notebook computer you will see that there are a myriad of choices. Just remember the reason why you're buying a computer to begin with and you'll be OK. While Macs have a reputation for video and edit capabilities, PCs are known for having superior gaming choices. All in all, both types of computers can do just about everything you'll need and want them to. It's all about what you prefer. After years of PC use, I chose the Apple G4 Ibook because it's beauty lies in its simplicity. Not to mention the outstanding virus control. Create Custom iBook Covers

If you have been downloading a lot of the free iBooks, you have probably noticed some boring Book covers. Those covers are easy to change.

If you've ever added custom album artwork to an iTunes song, this will be very familiar. If you haven't, here are the steps:

In your iTunes library, select the Books category in the source list.

Select any book that shows it has no cover, right click on it, and select "Get Info."
Select the "Artwork" tab.

Drag and drop any image into the box or click add to select the image and click Okay.

There you go. You've just added a custom cover to your iBook.

You can do a image search from Google or whatever search engine you use. Amazon is also a good choice but keep in mind these are most likely copyrighted, and their aspect ratio will probably not match the default aspect ratio of the book covers from the iBookstore.

Keep in mind you can add any image for your book cover and modify it with your image editing software. You probably already have some type of image editor but if you don't you should try Gimp. It is free software the offers a lot of image editing tools. You can add text over the image for the book title, etc. The image will need to be about 420 × 600 and save your image as a high quality JPEG file. Add the cover in iTunes with the steps mentioned earlier and your done.

My Latest Guru -- My Macintosh IBook

A couple days ago I went to watch one of my favorite TV shoes, West Wing, on DVD. (I have the first 4 seasons on DVD). Watching the show on my iBook laptop is a favorite way to unwind at the end of the day.

On this particular day the DVD program hung up so I had to shut down the computer, but when I went to start it up again nothing happened. Now, this has happened once before about a year ago and it was a major disruption in my life since I'd lost a lot of data when the repair company cleaned off the hard drive despite my stringent requests that they not do that. (My request was lost in the shuffle.)

So, all the past about the times I've had computer crashes began to wash over me, as I sat on my bed trying to breath. Luckily I caught what was happening fairly quickly, perhaps because the contrast between my quiet serenity a few moments previously and what I was now starting to experience was so sharp.

I consciously stopped myself by quieting my mind's fearful chatter and instead taking a moment to determine what was really happening. My iBook wasn't turning on. Beyond that, pretty much everything else I was hearing in my mind was all conjecture based on the past.

My minister, Chad O'Shea, often talks about the many different 'gurus' we have in our lives if we pay attention. Here, for sure was my latest guru, my iBook, pointing to how quickly I was ready to give up my peace-of-mind by allowing my mind to wreck havoc.

As for the status on my iBook? Still uncertain. I've unplugged it and removed the battery for a day or so, based on both an intuitive hit I had this morning which was followed by an email from my computer expert suggesting the same. We'll see if it can indeed heal itself.

In the meantime, I continue to 'watch my mind like a rattlesnake' least the past jump up to strike down my peace of mind again.

Further Lessons From My Ibook Guru

Well, with a deep sigh and a prayer, I mailed off my Mac iBook this week to be repaired without having been able to backup the last 3-4 weeks of data which included dozens of hours of work on two different books, and no telling how many emails that can't be replaced.

But despite a week of effort trying to find someone who could access the hard drive without voiding the service agreement, I declared, "All is in Divine Order, so I'll flow with what's flowing," and mailed it off.

My lesson is in trusting in the perfect order of this Universe we live in while 'tying my camel' as much as possible by writing explicit instructions to the repair company to not mess with the hard drive unless absolutely necessary and by calling them to verbally deliver the same message.

In the meantime, I'm continuing to do my gratitude work, being thankful for:

+ That the Ibook was still under the repair contract (by 2 weeks), + That I do have a backup G3 Macintosh which has allowed me to stay in the game and on purpose, + That I've had an explosion in creativity this past 2 weeks, creating 2 new fr.ee teleclasses complete with participant notes, and follow up 'purposeful presents, + And that, God wiling, my iBook will be back from the repair shop within the next week with all the data intact.

I'm also thankful for the flurry of new speaking opportunities, new participants in the upcoming Living the Fulfilled Life Foundational Programs, and new clients that have stretched and challenged me as a coach, as I trust I've also stretched and challenged them.

And on this bright and beautiful Saturday morning I'm particularly grateful for the return of warm, sunny weather after a week of cool, wet weather.

And, my next thing to be grateful for is that I find the perfect birthday present for Ann before her birthday on Monday. And that's my next mission right after sending out this ezine.

MacBook Vs iBook G4

The MacBook was without doubt one of the most anticipated products that had been launched by apple back in the year 2006. The question that had been foremost on the minds of the Apple fans back then had been as to what would become of the iBook? iBook G4 is a portable notebook that had been the rage before the launch of MacBook. iBook - New App on the Apple iPad

I know you have heard a ton of buzz about the new Apple iPad. One thing that is catching a a lot of attention is the new app that was created exclusively for the iPad. That app is the ibooks app. If you are a person who loves to read, you will love this new app. It allows you to read any book you want, right on the device.

When you first open the ibooks app, you will be taken to your bookshelf. On your bookshelf, you will see all of your current books. If you want to read on, just tap it and start reading. Reading on the iPad is just like reading a regular book. You can either hold it in portrait mode, which will enable you to view a single page, or hold it in landscape mode, which will allow you to view two pages at once. It is really all up to you and the way you are comfortable reading.

Another aspect of the ibooks app is the ibookstore. Right above the bookshelf, in the upper left hand corner is a store button. When you click on that button, you will be taken to the ibookstore. Once there, you will be able to browse around and find new books you would like to read. Once you find a book you want, purchase it and it will automatically appear on your bookshelf. Another salient point of the G3 is that they were the first to be sold with integrated wireless networking. There were some more versions of the Apple iBook G3 taken out later like the iBook G3 Dual USB with 600MHz and 15GB hard disk; the G3 14" TFT with a maximum resolution of 1024x76; the 700MHz G3 in 2002; the 900MHz G3 in 2003 with 40GB hard disk are some of the many different configurations that came out in the market. The truth is that at the end of the day, there is no other notebook as sturdy, as strong in performance, as durable as the Apple G3 iBook and it shows!

The New Generation IBook G4

Apple recently introduced the new generation Apple iBook G4 system, which is better than the G3 versions in many ways. The new computer has a variety of advanced features that makes it one of the most liked systems. The G3 version has 800 Megahertz processor, and only 256 Megabytes of memory, which is not a lot. How To Determine Your iBook's Hard Drive Size, Or The Size Of Any Apple Mac Hard Drive

I got a question recently about how to determine your iBook's hard drive size.

It's very easy to determine your iBook's hard drive size, and the same basic steps work for any Mac (any Apple computer including iBook, Powerbook, iMac, MacBook, etc.). I'll explain two different ways to find out your Mac's hard drive size in this article.

First off, the hard drive size is usually printed on the computer somewhere -- where this label is varies from computer to computer -- in the case of an iBook you can usually find the label with the hard drive size and other information underneath the keyboard.

Just gently pull the two sliding tabs on the top edge of the keyboard towards you while gently pulling upwards, and the keyboard should lift up. Underneath, you'll find the serial number and other information about your iBook.

So that's one way how to determine your iBook's hard disk size.

On other Mac models this information is printed on the base of the computer, or sometimes in other places.

In all cases, the size printed on the computer may be out of date if you've ever had your computer's hard drive upgraded, so let's talk about another way how to determine your iBook's hard drive size.

This way doesn't involve lifting up the keyboard (which some people are not comfortable doing) and it doesn't involve flipping the computer upside down like you have to do to read the label on many iMacs.

On any Mac you can easily find out the hard disk size, plus how much free space you have, by clicking once on the hard drive icon on your desktop.

On most Macs, the hard drive is called Macintosh HD, but some people rename it. In most cases, it's a rectangular metallic icon, which you'll usually find sitting on the upper right-hand corner of your desktop.

So click the drive once, which will highlight the drive. Then go to the File menu on the menu bar at the top of the screen.

In the file menu, you'll see a menu option called Get Info. Click the Get Info menu option in the File menu, and a new window will open with a lot of detailed information about the hard drive.

What you want to look for is "capacity" which is the full size of the hard drive, usually measured in GB, or Gigabytes, on a modern computer. Underneath capacity you will see more information about how much space is available, and how much is used.

As a side note, it is normal for all computers -- iBooks, iMacs or any other type of Apple Macintosh computer, as well as Windows PCs of any brand name -- to show fewer gigabytes or megabytes than what is listed on the label on the computer, on the sales receipt, or elsewhere.

For example, if you have a 60 gigabyte hard drive, it is normal for it to appear to be 55gb or so.

A simple way to think about this is like the foundation of a house: when you have just the foundation, it may have 1400 square feet, but once you've built the walls, etc. the real square feet will be less. This is because the walls take up some of that space. It works kind of the same way with a hard drive.

So again, one way how to determine your iBook's drive size, or the drive size of any Apple Mac computer is to click on the drive (once) and then click Get Info in the File menu.

Identifying Apple iBook computers is easy when you have connections. Places like the Internet make it possible for you to locate information and specs on each iBook PC sold. The key to finding what you want is to look at the features and different models.

Notice there is not a lot of difference in the Apple iBook computers, other than RAM access. Still, you want to review all the features that are offered with each computer to compare. Technology is steady advancing at rapid pace so now is the time to buy your Apple iBook laptops.
