DUBAI POLICE IMPROVES IPHONE APP

To better their communication with citizens, the General Directorate of e-Services at the Dubai Police have introduced the second version of its iPhone app available for free on the App Store.

Direct connectivity to the police’s call centre has also been enabled.Improvements in the app include a new interface where colours and font sizes can be customised, and the choice to use it in English—the previous version only had an Arabic interface. Connectivity to social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter has also been added to the app, said Brigadier Mohammad Saeed Bakhit, Director of the General Directorate of E-services.

With the improved app, Dubai Police hopes to communication more effectively with the community. The iPhone technology is one that facilitates efficient communication with the public, says Bakhit.

The first version of the app, announced on July 2010 by Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Acting-Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, include the police news service, and locations and addresses of the police and security services.
