'Brink' is a first-person shooter from Splash Damage and Bethesda Soft works. It was first released in North America on May 10, 2011. Although first person shooter game is very common, Brink is based on some unique thoughts and ideas. It gives you the opportunity to develop the character as you play the game. The movements of the players are more focused to 'Parkour' style, where the movements of the players are freestyle. It is perhaps the next generation of first person shooting games.
The Plot:
The whole setting takes place on a floating, overpopulated and once a Utopian city of Ark. Two groups of the city are always battling each other. They are the 'Security' and the 'Resistance'. You can play for any one of them. On each team there are 8 members, so in total there are 16 members paying the game. You can choose your character from any of the 4 classes, namely, Soldiers, Engineers, Medic and Operative. Each class has their own special abilities. Soldiers do the killings, Engineers can modify weapons, repair anything, set up land mines, Medics heal the wounded and operatives hack into enemies computer and question the captured. In each team, each class has a role to play. Since you are given the chance of changing your class, it would be foolish to stick to any one class. You also have the freedom to select the body type of your character. Heavy body types have more muscles. Hence they can manipulate all the weapons available to you, but they have less agility. Light body type is just the opposite, they have more agility but not skillful at handling weapons. Medium body type is somewhere in between. As you play and complete the objectives, you earn experience point (EP), with which you can buy special abilities. They may be class independent or class specific.

Pros:
what's stunning about this game is, you get more flexibility in playing the game. You can balance your team with the appropriate ratio of soldiers, engineers, medic and operatives and increase your chance of winning. As you play the game, you define a personality trait for your character, which is an absolute new feature in first person shooting game. Also the use of SMART (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) feature is absolutely new. Pressing the smart button allows you to perform special movements as vault, jump, roll to clear the obstacle. The computer automatically guesses the appropriate movements and then help the player to make the move.

Cons:
Despite of its unique plot, the game play has some flaws. Some missions are extremely tough to complete even in the easy mode. When playing with your friends you may get annoyed as you need to log in and wait for your friends to accept your invitation and join you in the game.

When you begin the game, you will be shown a cut-piece of the mission and records made by other players, but when you finish the game you will not be shown your number of kills. Moreover, there are no 'Hero Moments', so your team mates will not know of your accomplishments.
Despite of the lagging, Brink shows a great promise because of its unique features. So overall, it is a game you definitely want to try out.
