Why Selling Your EBook Through the iBooks Store Means Profit

The market for eBooks is going through a ground shift at the moment. Even the major bookstores are selling digital books. And the traditional publishing houses are producing eBooks for much of their list. And it's largely because of one piece of technology.
Which means opportunity for the observant eBook author.
The appearance of the digital reader or eBook reader has had a profound affect on the publishing market. Suddenly eBooks are a viable method of publishing. Publishers, booksellers, and even eBay clones are selling eBooks.
But there is one group that is often overlooked. The manufacturers of the readers.
That's right; Sony and Apple both have stores that sell digital books. As do many of the other manufacturers. So do some of the translation services. These services translate one format into all the formats required by the various reader manufacturers.
These manufacturers often have their own stores which are checked by default for users of their product. For example, the Sony eReader has the Sonystore to sell products. And Apple, the manufacturer of the iPad and iPhone, has the iBook Store.
Frequently these readers will call home by default. If your book is in their store it just might be found. But if it isn't -- well, that's one sale you won't make.
These manufacturers often act as if they are book publishers and distributers. After all they distribute electronics. There isn't that big a difference. They frequently produce booklists which they send to booksellers. The booksellers are then able to buy the eBooks off that list in the same manner they do traditional print books.
Dealing with these hardware manufacturers can give greater flexibility to the quick acting eBook author.
